Logitech Tap IP FAQ

Logitech Tap IP connects to your network and is a Type 1, Class 3 PoE Device.  When connected via ethernet cable to a PoE enabled network or switch, both data and power are delivered via a single ethernet cable. When using a PoE Injector for power, Tap IP can be configured to receive data via ethernet or WiFi.

For PoE, it is recommended that you use category cable meeting or exceeding Cat5e UTP AWG 26.

Tap IP is network-connected and runs a video conferencing platform controller client. The client then communicates with the video conferencing service.  For example; on Rally Bar or RoomMate, the Zoom Room Client Application is running and connected to Zoom’s hosted platform.  On Tap IP, the Zoom Room Controller Application is running and connected to Zoom’s hosted platform. Communication between Client and Controller application is facilitated through Zoom’s hosted platform.

In the case of MeetUp, Rally or Rally Plus, when they’re attached to either RoomMate or a Windows PC, the computer is running the Zoom Room Client Application, which in turn, is connected to Zoom’s hosted platform.  Communication between Client and Controller application is facilitated through Zoom’s hosted platform.

Zoom Rooms support up to 10 total Zoom Room Controllers and Schedulers. Any combination of one Tap and multiple Tap IP and Tap Scheduler devices, up to a total of 10 devices, is possible.

Tap IP can be managed through Logitech Sync device management, or through video conferencing platform dashboards.

Firmware updates may be done through three mechanisms:

  • Directly on the device via Device Settings \ Updates \
  • Logitech Sync device management
  • Service provider portals, such as Zoom Portal or Microsoft Teams Admin Center

To place Tap IP or Tap Scheduler in standby, press and release the power button on the back of the device.

To wake the device from standby, press and release the power button again or double-tap the screen surface.

To reboot the device, press and hold the power button on the back of the device for 3 seconds. Once you press and hold the power button, you will see instructions on the Tap screen.
